Algiers Infrastructure: Public Works Minister Reviews Road Projects
Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, accompanied by the Minister-Governor of Algiers Province, Abdennour Rabehi, conducted a field visit to Algiers to inspect several ongoing projects aimed at developing and enhancing the capital's road network. During the visit, Minister Djellaoui issued directives to accelerate the pace of implementation for these crucial projects, ensuring their timely completion to significantly improve traffic fluidity across the city. This initiative falls under broader efforts to enhance and valorize Algiers' waterfront, aligning with the "Blue Plan" for the strategic modernization of the city and strengthening its technical infrastructure.
The inspection covered a range of vital infrastructure developments, including the new coastal road project, spanning 14.5 kilometers, which will link the Oued El Harrach estuary to Tamentfoust in eastern Algiers, passing through Bordj El Kiffan. The delegation also examined the final section of the road connecting the July 5 Olympic Complex with Khraicia and reviewed progress on an overpass, 200 meters long, designed to connect the two banks of Oued El Harrach near the Grand Mosque of Algiers. Further progress was noted on sections of the new coastal road, including a 1 km segment from Oued El Harrach to Nuzha Port and a 2.3 km section from Nuzha Port to the Republican Guard area, where works have concluded.
Additional sites visited included the seventh section of the new coastal road project, a 1.8-kilometer stretch from Doum Beach to Sigon Beach, where two of three phases are nearing completion. A new bridge in Dely Ibrahim municipality was also inaugurated as part of the ongoing project connecting the July 5 Olympic Complex and Khraicia. The Minister underscored the imperative to intensify construction efforts and ensure all workshops are adequately equipped to meet specified deadlines, particularly for the final segment of the projects and associated technical structures. These efforts are poised to enhance Algiers' road network, alleviate congestion, and bolster overall urban connectivity.
