Minister Sayoud Inaugurates 10-Hectare Container Platform at Mostaganem Port

Minister of Interior, Local Communities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, oversaw the inauguration of a new container storage platform and its associated berths at Mostaganem port. This development marks a significant step for the port's infrastructure, with the platform spanning an area of 10 hectares. The Minister was accompanied by high-ranking officials, including the Director General of Algerian Customs, Major General Abdelhafidh Bakhouch, the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, and Mostaganem Governor Ahmed Boudouh.

The inauguration is part of the ongoing efforts to implement President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's directives concerning the reorganization and specialization of national ports. Mostaganem port has been specifically designated for import operations carried out by public institutions and companies. This strategic focus aims to enhance the port's operational capabilities, improve conditions for receiving, processing, and storing containers, and elevate the overall standard of port services.

This initiative is intended to attract more economic operators and facilitate new pathways for Algerian products into international markets. The specialization strategy seeks to establish a more efficient system for goods movement, reduce congestion across ports, and improve their performance and effectiveness within the national economic and logistical framework. The ministry indicated that this dynamic will continue with a specialized team tasked with developing a comprehensive vision for port specialization across all regions of Algeria, fostering a more balanced distribution of goods traffic and increasing port efficiency.
