Ghana Restores Diplomatic Ties with Sahrawi Republic

Ghana has officially resumed and activated its diplomatic relations with the Sahrawi Republic, a development confirmed following a meeting in Accra on Monday. During the encounter, Ghana's Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, received copies of the credentials from Tayeb Siddik El Bachir, who is now the Sahrawi Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ghana. This formal exchange signifies a renewed commitment to direct bilateral engagement.

Minister Ablakwa reaffirmed Ghana's consistent governmental stance on the Sahrawi issue, underscoring his country's readiness to continue and strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Sahrawi Republic. Both officials engaged in consultations regarding regional and international matters of mutual concern, highlighting a broader scope for their collaborative efforts.

The Sahrawi Ambassador, for his part, expressed appreciation for Ghana's position, conveying his desire to enhance the existing friendship and cooperation between the two nations. He emphasized the historical foundation of African solidarity and shared positions as a framework for future collaboration. The meeting concluded with a mutual affirmation of the robust bilateral relations and a collective aspiration to expand areas of cooperation, which is expected to support African solidarity, peace, stability, and continental integration.
