Africa’s Sixth Busiest International Air Route: Algiers-Paris

The air link between Algiers and Paris has been identified as one of the most frequented international routes on the African continent. Data published for September 2026 by air data provider OAG shows that this route secured the sixth position among Africa's busiest international lines. Specifically, the connection between Algiers Houari-Boumédiène International Airport and Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle recorded 128,406 seats during that month.

This ranking positions the Algiers-Paris route closely behind the top five, all of which originate from Cairo. The route was only 4,086 seats shy of the fifth-ranked Cairo–Kuwait link. Beyond seat capacity, the popularity of the Algiers-Paris axis is evident in its high number of rotations. By the end of August 2026, up to 29 flights were conducted in a single day between the Algerian capital and Parisian airports, underscoring strong demand between Algeria and France. During the summer season, airline schedules also provided for as many as 26 daily flights on this route.

The frequent services between Algiers and Paris cover both Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports. Four carriers operate regular flights on this route: Air Algérie, Air France, ASL Airlines France, and Transavia. These companies ensure multiple daily rotations and offer various schedules, with Air Algérie, Air France, and ASL Airlines France serving Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle, and Transavia operating flights to Paris-Orly.
