Benin Deal Room 2026 Hosts Algerian Delegation

A multi-sectoral Algerian delegation recently participated in the high-level "Benin Deal Room 2026" investment forum, held in Cotonou from September 16 to 18. This visit aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Benin, aligning with national directives to diversify Algeria's economy and establish a stronger presence in African markets. The strong level of participation underscores Algeria's commitment to boosting its economic footprint across West Africa.
The Algerian delegation included representatives from the Ministries of Pharmaceutical Industry and Energy and Renewable Energies, alongside officials from public enterprises. Notably, the Chairman and CEO of Saidal Group and the Chairman and CEO of the Algerian Company for Electrical and Gas Industries, part of the Sonelgaz Group, were present. The opening day of the forum saw the Algerian delegates engage in numerous bilateral institutional and investor meetings, with Algeria's Ambassador to Benin, Amar Hadjar, also in attendance.
During their engagement, the Algerian delegation held a meeting with a Beninese Ministry of Health delegation, allowing Algerian officials and operators to present the production capabilities and export potential of Algeria's pharmaceutical sector. Discussions explored partnership and investment opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry to meet the needs of both the Beninese market and the wider West African region. Further meetings were scheduled with officials from Benin's Ministry of Energy and Mines, as well as with management from the Integrated Industrial Zone of Glo-Djigbé (GDIZ) and the Port of Cotonou, to investigate prospects for industrial integration, tax incentives, and priority investment projects, embodying a South-South partnership framework.
