Public Projects: Walis Tasked to Optimize Economic, Social Benefits

Minister of Interior, Local Collectivities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, has directed Walis to enhance the execution and impact of public projects across the country. During the installation ceremony of the new Wali of Boumerdès, Amine Benmalek, Minister Sayoud underscored that this directive aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's commitment to renewing competencies and strengthening local administration. The aim is to meet development requirements and citizen expectations while consolidating principles of efficiency and transparency in public management.

Minister Sayoud emphasized a critical shift in approach, moving beyond mere project completion to actively maximizing their economic and social impact. He called for ensuring the sustainability, effectiveness, proper utilization, and maintenance of these projects. Furthermore, the directive targets the swift completion of any delayed or problematic projects and the resolution of identified deficiencies and imbalances on the ground.

To achieve these objectives, the Minister instructed Walis to conduct precise diagnostics of major ongoing projects, identify priorities, pinpoint obstacles, and propose practical solutions to accelerate their realization and operationalization. This comprehensive approach is designed to foster effective and sustainable coordination among various sectors, local services, elected officials, civil society, and economic operators. The ultimate goal is to positively impact citizens' lives and bolster the trajectory of local development, with project results and their tangible effects on citizens serving as the primary criteria for performance evaluation.
