Humanitarian Law Conference in Jordan Features Algerian Co-Chair

Algeria is set to co-chair a working group focused on the protection of civilian facilities at an international high-level conference scheduled for December 2026 in Jordan. The conference will address the critical theme of “Protection of humanity in times of war”.

This significant international gathering in Jordan is part of a broader global initiative aimed at reinforcing commitment to international humanitarian law. Algeria will share the co-chairing role for the working group alongside Slovenia, Sierra Leone, and Costa Rica.

Details regarding Algeria's participation were outlined in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which referred to a meeting held in New York between Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.
