Belarusian Delegation Secures $18 Million in Algeria Contracts

A Belarusian delegation, led by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova, concluded a visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, culminating in the signing of contracts valued at $18 million. This visit aimed to provide concrete economic substance to high-level agreements previously established by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

The newly signed contracts focus on long-term supplies of products from Belarus's agro-industrial complex, including dry milk. Broader discussions during the visit explored potential Belarusian involvement in Algeria's passenger vehicle fleet modernization program, slated to continue until 2030. Additionally, the parties examined prospects for supplying special fabrics and grain drying complexes to Algeria.

Beyond trade, the delegation also initiated discussions on significant joint projects, such as the localization of Belarusian cancer drug production within Algeria and a collaborative effort for greening the Sahara desert. The Belarusian side emphasized its commitment to equitable and friendly relations, focusing on technology transfer and joint ventures designed to enhance the quality of life for citizens in both nations. Chairperson Kochanova underscored the strategic importance of this bilateral interaction, particularly in their shared support for key positions on international platforms, including the preservation of peace, sovereignty, and independence.
