Shanghai Hosts Algeria’s WorldSkills Debut

Algeria has made its first-time entry into the WorldSkills competition, known as the Olympiades des métiers, with the 48th edition opening in Shanghai, China, on Tuesday. The Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Ms. Nassima Arhab, is present at the global event, which is set to continue until next Monday.

Two young Algerians are representing the nation: Akram Hazir, specializing in automotive technology, and Yasser Haouas, focusing on mobile applications. This participation offers a vital platform for Algerian youth to engage with peers from various countries, facilitating the exchange of expertise and experiences across diverse professional and technological specializations. It also provides an opportunity to observe the latest techniques and international standards adopted in vocational skills.

The Minister is scheduled to hold meetings with officials and representatives from international bodies and institutions during the event. These discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation and exchanging insights in areas such as skill development and vocational training, while also exploring relevant international experiences and practices. This inaugural presence aligns with the vocational training and education sector's broader commitment to embracing international practices and evolving specializations to meet the demands of the labor market, particularly in modern technologies and related professions.
