CAM SARL to Provide Tanzania with Agricultural Processing Machinery

Tanzania has initiated discussions with Algeria's CAM SARL to acquire specialized agricultural processing and packaging machinery. This engagement aims to support Tanzania's industrialization and value-addition objectives, with a goal of reducing the East African nation's historical reliance on exporting raw agricultural commodities. Ambassador Mobhare Matinyi led a Tanzanian delegation to CAM SARL's manufacturing facilities outside Algiers, where the firm specializes in designing and producing machinery for both agricultural and pharmaceutical sectors.

During the site inspection, Ambassador Matinyi engaged in formal discussions with CAM SARL's senior management, including Chief Executive Officer Bouzid Belhadj. The talks centered on the potential for CAM SARL to manufacture equipment tailored to specific Tanzanian crops, such as fruits, vegetables, spices, grains, cashew nuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, tea, and coffee. CAM SARL develops its manufacturing expertise by integrating technologies sourced from Germany, Italy, and Spain, adapting them for the African continent using Algerian engineering talent. The company has already established an export presence in North African markets like Tunisia.

This potential partnership offers CAM SARL an opportunity to expand into the growing East African industrial market, reinforcing intra-African technical cooperation. Following these discussions, CEO Bouzid Belhadj confirmed plans for a reciprocal visit to Tanzania. This forthcoming assessment will allow Algerian engineers to directly observe Tanzanian agricultural production and evaluate existing processing infrastructure, further refining machinery specifications to meet local operational constraints and ensure the successful deployment of adapted processing technology.
