African Institute of Directors Forms First Core with Algerian Participation

The first core of the African Institute of Directors has been established in Tunis, with Algeria participating alongside representatives from Tunisia, Mali, Guinea, and Côte d'Ivoire. This development occurred during the tenth annual meeting of the Tunisian Institute of Directors (ITA). The new institute is tasked with reinforcing the application of international standards in corporate governance, as well as social and environmental responsibility (RSE/ESG), within financial institutions, banks, and listed companies in the member countries.

The initiative underscores a significant commitment to promoting robust corporate oversight across the continent. Moez Joudi, President of the ITA, emphasized that adhering to these international standards is no longer merely an option but a fundamental mechanism. Such adherence is crucial for ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of businesses, and for enhancing their capacity to mobilize international financing.

Algeria's involvement in this new structure highlights its commitment to fostering regional economic partnership and good governance practices. Anis Jaziri, President of the Tunisian-African Business Council (TABC), indicated that through this new framework, Tunisia aims to become a driving force for a continental network of directors' institutes. This collaborative effort is poised to consolidate economic ties and elevate corporate management standards throughout Africa.
