Attaf, Egyptian Minister Coordinate Regional Stability, Economic Growth

Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of State, Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, held discussions with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abd El Ati, in New York. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the quality of bilateral relations between Algeria and Egypt, describing them as experiencing "unprecedented development" in recent years, guided by the directives of Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The ministers exchanged views on preparations for an upcoming follow-up committee meeting, scheduled for October, aimed at bolstering economic cooperation across all sectors. This initiative is a direct implementation of the outcomes from the ninth session of the Algerian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee, which convened in Cairo in November 2025.

Furthermore, the discussions covered various regional and international issues of mutual concern, including developments in the Middle East, Sudan, Libya, and the Sahel region. Both parties agreed to continue coordination and consultation to promote political solutions and to avert threats arising from ongoing conflicts, instability, and external interventions in the region.
