National Venture Capital Pathway Opens at University of Algiers 3
The University of Algiers 3 has established the University of Algiers 3 Financial Investment Company (SIF-UA3), becoming the first university-based venture capital investment company in Algeria to receive accreditation from the Stock Exchange Operations Organization and Supervision Commission (Cosob). Accredited on February 25, 2026, with the number 01/2026, this initiative marks a significant step in enabling Algerian universities to play a more assertive economic role. The SIF-UA3 is designed to convert academic knowledge, innovation, and skills into viable projects, businesses, products, and services, creating added value, wealth, and employment opportunities.
This new financial mechanism aims to bridge the gap between idea generation and economic realization, providing crucial funding and support for projects from their conceptual stage through growth and expansion. With an initial capital of 188.8 million dinars, SIF-UA3 evaluates projects based on innovation, economic viability, growth potential, job creation, and export capabilities. Furthermore, the University of Algiers 3, with the participation of 20 other university institutions, has secured accreditation for the first university-based Collective Investment Fund in Risk Capital (FCPR) in Algeria, also managed by SIF-UA3. This FCPR will pool financial, human, and scientific resources from participating universities to direct capital towards innovation and establish a robust university investment market.
Complementing these domestic economic advancements, the University of Algiers 3 also reinforced its international academic partnerships by hosting a delegation from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The visit, undertaken to enhance global academic engagement and facilitate knowledge exchange, focused on establishing a cooperation agreement for training professors and doctoral students in English and Spanish, exploring academic exchanges, and identifying future collaboration opportunities in scientific research. The UAB delegation toured various pedagogical and scientific facilities, including the headquarters of SIF-UA3, expressing admiration for the university's modern capabilities and equipment.
