Verona Fair Leads to Algerian Marble Export to China

Algerian marble has successfully gained access to the expansive Chinese market, marking a significant advancement for the nation's non-hydrocarbon economy. This milestone was achieved through a substantial commercial agreement signed during the 60th edition of the Marmomac International Marble and Natural Stone Exhibition in Verona, Italy, which concluded on September 25, 2026. The Algerian company SARL NOUR established a strategic partnership with a prominent Italian operator, specifically aiming to serve as a conduit for exporting Algerian marble to China.
This new export agreement underscores the growing competitiveness of Algerian products on the international stage, demonstrating that the country's natural stone sector possesses the quality required to succeed in highly competitive global distribution channels. China, recognized as a major consumer of high-end construction materials, presents an exceptional commercial opportunity for Algerian marble production. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion oversaw Algeria's participation in the event, aligning with the government's overarching strategy to enhance non-hydrocarbon exports.
The success of Algeria's presence at Marmomac was further supported by institutional and diplomatic efforts, including a visit to the Algerian pavilion by the Algerian Ambassador to Italy and the Consul General in Milan, which reaffirmed state support for local producers. Beyond the Chinese market, fruitful discussions were also held to facilitate access for Algerian marble and natural stones to Northern Italy, a region with a dynamic economy and increasing demand for these noble materials. Sustained participation in such specialized economic events is seen as crucial for fostering lasting partnerships, showcasing Algeria's industrial capabilities, and ensuring enduring visibility for its products in international markets.
