General Chengriha Affirms Higher Military Cooperation with Vietnam
General Saïd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army and Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, received General Nguyen Trung Nghia, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnamese People's Army, at the People's National Army General Staff headquarters in Algiers. During the meeting, General Chengriha affirmed Algeria's complete readiness to advance bilateral military cooperation to higher levels, serving the mutual interests of both countries and enhancing opportunities for progress and prosperity for their friendly peoples.
This initiative builds upon a strong historical foundation of struggle and human solidarity shared by Algeria and Vietnam. General Chengriha noted that the relations between the two nations are deeply historical and human, forged through common suffering and national resistance against colonialism. These ties were further strengthened by revolutionary solidarity, mutual respect, and continuous political consultation, all contributing to the establishment of a strategic partnership among Southern countries. He emphasized Vietnam's early and pivotal support for the Algerian Revolution, including hosting delegations from the National Liberation Front and sharing expertise in armed struggle and revolutionary organization, as well as being among the first nations to recognize the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic.
General Chengriha highlighted that this visit represents a new step in reinforcing military cooperation and a significant move towards elevating it to higher echelons. For his part, General Nguyen Trung Nghia expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Algeria and conveyed his ongoing desire to work towards strengthening military cooperation relations. He also commended the multidimensional coordination between the two friendly countries. The meeting concluded with an exchange of symbolic gifts, followed by General Nguyen Trung Nghia signing the golden register of the People's National Army General Staff.
