President Tebboune Drives Asset Recovery, Industrial Reintegration
Algeria has embarked on a comprehensive national strategy aimed at eradicating development disparities across its various regions. A core focus of this initiative, consistently emphasized by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune since his election, involves the recovery of seized assets and the systematic reintegration of confiscated factories and projects into the national economic fabric. This process transforms these once-idle assets into productive tools, creating wealth and generating vital job opportunities, with the Prime Minister personally overseeing field visits to accelerate this reintegration.
This strategic path is integral to the state's efforts in combating corruption and supporting national development, guided by a well-defined approach. Ownership of the recovered factories and facilities is transferred to public holding companies to ensure sustained operations under transparent economic standards. The strategy spans multiple vital sectors, including vehicle manufacturing and accessories, the restart of car assembly units, and the production of vehicle bodies to increase national integration. Furthermore, stalled units are being reactivated to bolster construction workshops and basic infrastructure projects, aiming to overcome previous bureaucratic hurdles and ensure their operational readiness.
Significant progress has already been achieved, with the government successfully restarting nearly 70 industrial units across various wilayas. A recent example includes the inauguration of a unit in Tissemsilt Wilaya dedicated to producing plastic components and accessories for automobiles. The state's dedication to reactivating these factories directly supports its policy of achieving immediate developmental benefits, notably by absorbing unemployment in internal regions and bolstering local production. This also works to reduce import expenditures through the domestic manufacturing of essential supplies such as spare parts, plastic accessories, and iron components.
Moreover, the strategy contributes to strengthening national reserves by directing a portion of valuable assets and seized metals to the Bank of Algeria, thereby supporting legal reserves. President Tebboune's comprehensive plan also prioritizes social justice and regional balance, specifically targeting the development of shadow areas and marginalized wilayas. It includes launching dedicated development programs for areas historically neglected, accelerating major projects in infrastructure, housing, and health to boost the national economy, and improving living standards throughout the country. The President personally monitors adherence to deadlines for reactivating these projects and integrating dozens of confiscated units and factories, transferred under final judicial rulings, back into productive institutions to ensure economic continuity and preserve employment.
