Digital Sovereignty and Local Industry Focus of Upcoming e-Xpo

Algeria is set to host the fifth edition of the e-Xpo electronic trade and services fair from October 7 to 10 at the Exhibition Palace in Maritime Pine. The event aims to elevate discussions on strategic topics such as digital sovereignty, artificial intelligence, and the crucial protection of personal data. Organized under the patronage of several ministries, including Knowledge Economy, Startups, Micro-enterprises, Domestic Trade and Market Regulation, and Vocational Training and Education, the fair will specifically spotlight local manufacturers producing goods for online commerce.

The upcoming e-Xpo is expected to be a significant gathering, featuring over 260 exhibitors across more than 12,000 square meters. This marks a substantial increase from the initial 64 exhibitors in 2022, demonstrating the growing importance of e-commerce within the country. The fair's organizer, Chems Eddine Habhoub, noted that the event has attracted over 40,000 visitors in previous editions and seen active participation from startups, small, and large companies, both Algerian and international, revealing a dynamic and expanding ecosystem.

Serving as a vital platform, the fair directly connects suppliers with consumers, fostering new ideas and relationships within the market. It also plays a key role in educating youth about pertinent and sensitive issues, including the concept of digital sovereignty, new applications of artificial intelligence, the importance of data centers, and the imperative of adhering to Law 18-07 on personal data protection. Over 70 lectures are scheduled throughout the event to address these and other related topics, raising awareness of current global developments.
