Flood Risk Evacuation: 260 Families Relocated in Béchar Province

Béchar – At least 260 families have been evacuated from flood-prone areas as a precautionary measure against the risk of floods, according to local authorities on Thursday.

The evacuation includes 60 families from the Jorf El-Touba area near the overflowing Oued Guir in the commune of Abadla, located 88 km south of Béchar, and 100 families from the old town of Beni Ounif, 11 km north of Béchar, as stated by the Governor of Béchar, Mohamed Saïd Ben Gamou.

Additionally, 100 families were evacuated from the provincial capital to temporary shelters as part of the preventive actions taken following recent floods in the region.

The decision to evacuate residents, particularly those living in flood-prone areas, was made by the crisis unit to ensure the safety of the population and address their concerns, as emphasized by the local authorities.
