Taif (Saudi Arabia) – Algerian athlete Aya Zaneikhri won the silver medal in the 5000m race walk on the first day of the 10th Arab U-18 Athletics Championships, held from September 11 to 16, 2024, in Taif, Saudi Arabia.
Zaneikhri completed the race with a time of 26 minutes, 26 seconds, and 29 milliseconds.
The gold medal went to Tunisia’s Iman Al-Saai, who finished in 25 minutes, 59 seconds, and 91 milliseconds. Morocco’s Hafsa El-Zaidi secured the bronze with a time of 27 minutes, 29 seconds, and 18 milliseconds.
Algeria is participating in the championship with a delegation of 30 athletes. The Algerian team underwent a preparatory training camp at the “Sveltis” Hotel in Cheraga at the beginning of September in preparation for this Arab competition.
