Algeria’s UN representative, Ambassador Amar Ben Jamaa, emphasized the country’s firm belief in the need to enforce peace on those who reject it during a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East situation, including the Palestinian issue.

Speaking at a UN Security Council session in New York, Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Amar Ben Jamaa, stressed the urgent need for decisions backed by strong follow-up mechanisms to ensure their implementation. He reaffirmed Algeria’s conviction that peace should be imposed on those who refuse it and do not believe in it.

During his address, Ben Jamaa called for “a serious and clear stance on the deteriorating situation in the region.” He reminded the council that its primary mission is to preserve international peace and security, warning that “the Middle East is on the brink of a full-scale regional war.”

Ben Jamaa condemned the Israeli occupation’s ongoing policies of apartheid and ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank, stating, “Israel continues to create a new reality on the ground with unprecedented levels of settlement expansion and land annexation.” He also expressed deep frustration with Israel’s impunity and continuous violations of international law, reiterating that “peace in the Middle East will only be achieved with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.”

The ambassador referenced the recent International Court of Justice ruling, urging the UN General Assembly and Security Council to take decisive action to end Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territories. He further criticized the global double standards regarding Palestinian lives, calling it a reflection of “deep-rooted racism.”
