Algiers – Raed El Kouba secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over WA Mostaganem on Saturday at the “Mohamed Ben Haddad” Stadium, overturning the result in the final minutes of the fifth round of the Algerian Second Division Amateur Championship (Central-West group).
WA Mostaganem took the lead twice during the match, but Raed El Kouba, under the guidance of their new coach Boualem Charef, managed to equalize on both occasions. The decisive moment came deep into injury time (90+3) when Belkheir‘s own goal gifted Raed El Kouba their first home win of the season and their second consecutive victory after defeating Meshria 2-1 in the previous round.
This win propelled Raed El Kouba to fifth place, tied with ASM Oran at 8 points, although Oran has a game in hand against NA Hussein Dey. Meanwhile, WA Mostaganem dropped to seventh place alongside Moustakbal Oued Sly, both with 7 points.
The fifth round began on Friday, with both JS Tiaret and US Bashar Jedid closing the gap on the group leaders, CRB Ben Aknoun. Ben Aknoun were held to a 1-1 draw at home by RC Ain Temouchent, a surprising result that left them with 11 points—only one point ahead of their closest rivals, JS Tiaret and US Bashar Jedid, who now each have 10 points.
The sixth round of the championship is scheduled for next Tuesday at 15:00.
