Algiers – The Ministry of Culture and Arts has announced the opening of applications for cultural and artistic associations seeking public funding for their projects in 2025. This initiative is part of the government’s public support policy aimed at fostering cultural and artistic activities, according to a statement from the ministry.
The statement emphasized that “in line with the public support policy for cultural and artistic associations, and to promote and strengthen community cultural activities, the Ministry of Culture and Arts is inviting associations to apply for funding for their 2025 cultural and artistic projects.” The initiative is based on the provisions of Law No. 12/06 of January 12, 2012, which governs the operation of associations.
Focus on Promoting Cultural Heritage and Community Activities
This support is intended for national and local cultural and artistic projects that aim to preserve and enhance Algeria’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Eligible projects may include:
- Organizing cultural and artistic events that engage all segments of society.
- Training programs for youth and children in various artistic disciplines such as music, theater, visual arts, and audiovisual media.
- Promoting cultural activities for children through creative and educational initiatives.
- Hosting cultural events across the country, with a focus on remote and isolated areas.
Conditions for Funding
The ministry clarified that the support provided is a partial contribution to the project’s overall budget. Associations are required to disclose all potential sources of funding, including contributions from the association itself, the Ministry of Culture, or other financial partners. Each association may apply for funding for one project only, which will be evaluated based on its objectives and significance by a designated committee.
Additionally, associations benefiting from the funding must adhere to the agreed terms outlined in the contract signed between the association’s president and a representative of the Ministry of Culture. The projects must also be completed within the specified timeline.
Application Process and Deadlines
Interested associations can review the detailed terms and conditions for eligibility, as well as the administrative requirements and technical specifications for the proposed projects, on the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Arts. Applications will be accepted from October 21 to December 20, 2024.
All submissions must be made exclusively through the ministry’s online platform for public funding of cultural and artistic associations. Once the submission period closes, the Public Support Committee will evaluate all projects to determine which will receive funding.
