Venezuelan President Makes Technical Stop in Algiers

Algiers, October 25, 2024 – Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro made a technical stop in the Algerian capital on Friday evening, according to a statement from the office of the Algerian Prime Minister.

Upon his arrival at Houari Boumediene International Airport, President Maduro was welcomed by the Algerian Prime Minister, Mr. Nadhir Larbaoui.

This stopover underscores the solid diplomatic relations between Algeria and Venezuela, two nations known for their opposition to Western influence and alignment on geopolitical issues, especially in the context of OPEC cooperation and the defense of sovereign interests.

Maduro’s presence in Algiers, even for a brief technical stop, reflects Algeria’s strategic importance as a gateway to Africa and the Mediterranean, as well as its growing diplomatic influence.
