Algeria and South Korea Launch Solar Energy Training Program in Algiers

Strengthening Renewable Energy Expertise Through International Cooperation

A specialized training program on solar energy production, led by experts from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korea Rural Community Corporation, began on Sunday in Algiers. This initiative aims to share South Korean expertise and technology in solar energy production, according to a statement from the Algerian Center for Renewable Energy Development.

The program, which runs through November 6, brings together 20 participants from three key Algerian institutions: the Center for Renewable Energy Development (CDER), the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Commission (CEREFE), and the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE).

The training schedule includes sessions on South Korea’s certification systems for solar energy quality, technological standards, and workshops to draft a project concept note. Additionally, participants will visit a solar energy production facility operated by CDER in Algeria. Here, they will discuss development strategies and engage in in-depth consultations with Korean experts on quality monitoring.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as representatives from Algeria’s renewable energy organizations. Director of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, Shin Hong Seob, highlighted the value of this program as an opportunity to share South Korean technology and expertise. He expressed optimism about further strengthening the collaborative relationship between Algeria and South Korea in the field of renewable energy.
