Algiers, November 25, 2024 – Members of the executive bureau of the Popular Provincial Assembly (APW) of Ghardaia paid a visit to the headquarters of the Council of the Nation today. The visit included comprehensive explanations of the Council’s functions, its legislative responsibilities, and its oversight of executive activities, as well as its institutional role within Algeria’s national framework, according to a statement issued by the upper house of Parliament.
A Tour of the Council’s Facilities
The delegation toured various sections of the Council, including the library, committee rooms, the official plenary hall, and other technical facilities. During the tour, they received detailed briefings about the Council’s operational processes and its pivotal role in Algeria’s legislative ecosystem.
This visit was facilitated by Ms. Nadjia Wedjdi-Demredji, Deputy Chair of the Council of the Nation in charge of field activities and the promotion of parliamentary culture. She was accompanied by Eid Madoui, Chair of the Education, Training, Higher Education, and Religious Affairs Committee, and Mahfoud Boucebaa, Chair of the Culture, Media, Youth, and Tourism Committee.
Participation of Local Representatives and Officials
The reception also included Omar Dadi Aadoun, Vice Chair of the Legal, Administrative, and Human Rights Committee, who represents Ghardaia in the Council, and Mohamed Bougelaba, another Council member from Ghardaia. Senior administrative officials, including the Secretary-General of the Council of the Nation, also attended the meeting.
Context of the Visit
This visit forms part of a broader training program for the Ghardaia Provincial Assembly’s executive bureau, which is scheduled to take place in Algiers from November 24 to 27, 2024. The program aims to deepen their understanding of parliamentary processes and enhance governance practices.
