On Saturday evening, November 30, 2024, in Oran, Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks with the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia, Mr. Peya Mushelenga.
The meeting, which took place on the eve of the 11th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, provided an opportunity to review the current status and future prospects of the excellent bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in priority areas such as energy, training, and cybersecurity. Both parties agreed to convene the next session of the Joint Governmental Committee at the earliest opportunity.
Additionally, the two ministers expressed satisfaction with the alignment of their countries’ positions on key continental and international issues, with particular focus on the Palestinian cause and the decolonization of Western Sahara.
Following the meeting, the Namibian minister stated that he and Mr. Attaf had discussed several important topics, including the Western Sahara issue and the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination. He emphasized the long-standing and historical relationship between the two nations.
Mr. Mushelenga added, “We also discussed the potential to develop economic relations between our countries, particularly in areas such as investments, trade, energy, and cybersecurity.”
