Algerian President Bestows National Order of Merit on South African President

Algiers – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has awarded the National Order of Merit, Rank of Athir to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during the latter’s state visit to Algeria.

This prestigious honor, granted as part of President Ramaphosa’s visit, reflects Algeria’s recognition of South Africa’s significant contributions to defending shared humanitarian values on the international stage.

President Tebboune stated:
“On the occasion of the state visit by my brother, President Cyril Ramaphosa, to Algeria, I have decided to bestow upon him the National Order of Merit, Rank of Athir, as a mark of respect for his esteemed personal contributions and in recognition of South Africa’s exemplary role under his leadership. This honor highlights the country’s efforts in advocating for shared human values and exposing the genocide faced by the Palestinian people under the apartheid policies of the Israeli regime.”
