Algiers hosted an international symposium on Emir Abdelkader titled “In the Presence of the Nation’s Heroes: Historical, Civilizational, and Cultural Dimensions of Emir Abdelkader.” The event, held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was organized by the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other governmental bodies.

“We are honored to bear the name of such a noble and courageous figure whose humanitarian principles and pursuit of peace remain timeless,” Pope stated. He highlighted the official twinning between Elkader and Mascara, Algeria, established in 1984.
