South African President Visits Algeria’s Central Supply Base

Strengthening Military Cooperation Between Algeria and South Africa

On Saturday, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the Central Supply Base of Algeria’s First Military Region, underscoring the growing partnership between the two nations.

High-Level Reception and Welcome

Accompanied by Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, President Ramaphosa was received by the General Commander of the First Military Region and the General Director of Organization and Logistics for the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP).

The visit began with a ceremonial welcome by units from various ANP forces. The Commander of the First Military Region delivered a welcome address, followed by a detailed presentation by the Director General of the Central Supply Base. The presentation outlined the base’s organizational structure and its critical role in supporting military operations.

Tour of Facilities and Workshops

President Ramaphosa toured several facilities within the base, including:

  • Armored Vehicle Renewal Division: Focused on the maintenance and renewal of tracked vehicles.
  • Foundry Workshop: Highlighting advanced capabilities in material production and repair.

Comprehensive explanations were provided to the South African delegation about the workshops’ operations and their strategic importance to Algeria’s military readiness.

Signing the Golden Book

President Ramaphosa concluded his visit by signing the base’s Golden Book, commemorating the occasion and reaffirming the strategic relationship between Algeria and South Africa.

Departure Ceremony

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune bid farewell to his South African counterpart at the VIP lounge of Houari Boumediene International Airport, marking the end of a state visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties in defense, energy, and economic cooperation.
