Sid Ali Khaldi, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, recently met with Professor Ilias Zerhouni, coordinator of the Supreme Council for the National Scientific Diaspora Abroad, and several council members. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and utilizing the scientific capabilities of Algerian professionals residing overseas to advance the national agricultural sector, according to a ministry statement.

The meeting provided an opportunity to explore ways to benefit from the scientific and technological experiences and expertise accumulated by Algerian talent abroad. These insights are intended to support efforts aimed at developing the sector and improving its overall performance. Conversations specifically addressed the importance of harnessing scientific research, innovation, and modern technologies to devise sustainable solutions for challenges facing agriculture, notably climate change, and to enhance productivity and output, especially in strategic crops.

Furthermore, the participants discussed strategies for developing local seeds and improving animal breeds.
