Vietnam, Algeria Discuss Youth and Cultural Exchange Initiatives
The Algerian Ambassador to Vietnam, Azeddine Bechka, met with Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organizations, to propose initiatives for strengthening youth and cultural exchanges between the two nations. Discussions emphasized people-to-people diplomacy and local cooperation.

Ambassador Azeddine Bechka, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Vietnam, held a working meeting with Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organizations, in Hanoi on November 4. The discussions centered on continuing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria, enhancing exchanges between younger generations, and expanding local cooperation. Ambassador Bechka highlighted the crucial role of people-to-people diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding and reinforcing the bond between the two countries.
Looking ahead to the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, Ambassador Bechka suggested that the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organizations and the Algerian Embassy in Vietnam collaborate on various activities. These include seminars, photo exhibitions, film screenings, and painting competitions aimed at promoting exchanges between the populations of both countries. In the cultural and educational spheres, both sides could further youth exchanges through joint cultural days, exhibitions, and programs involving universities, high schools, and friendship associations, providing opportunities for Vietnamese and Algerian youth to deepen their understanding of each other's history, culture, and traditions.
The Ambassador also expressed a desire for the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organizations to coordinate efforts in promoting cooperation between specific Algerian provinces, such as Batna and Skikda, and Vietnamese provinces, including Dien Bien and Gia Lai. This collaboration would involve organizing visits and working trips to these regions to explore practical opportunities, especially in agriculture and trade. Phan Anh Son affirmed the importance of preserving and promoting the positive values of Vietnamese-Algerian friendship, particularly through youth exchanges. He noted the deep appreciation for the shared history and traditions, recognizing figures like President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap in Algeria, and highlighted the lasting connections of Vietnamese engineers and officials who worked in Algeria. Both sides are committed to strengthening the friendship between their peoples.
