Algiers – Toufik Sehtali and Amira Benissa, both representing MC Algiers, emerged victorious in the 2024 National Senior Tennis Championship, which concluded on Friday at the Federal Tennis Center in Ben Aknoun, Algiers.
Men’s Singles
Sehtali claimed the men’s title after a commanding victory over his 15-year-old teammate Yassine Maghari, with a scoreline of 6-0, 6-1.
Women’s Singles
In the women’s category, Amira Benissa defeated her clubmate Melissa Benamar in a tightly contested match, finishing 6-3, 7-6 to secure the championship.
Men’s Doubles
The MCA duo of Sehtali and Maghari also triumphed in the men’s doubles, defeating the team of Ramzi Brahimi (US Annaba) and Abdelkrim Benseman (MCA) with a decisive 6-0, 6-3.
Women’s Doubles
On the women’s side, Benissa teamed up with Benamar to take the doubles title, overcoming their teammates Yara Mebarki and Huda Benamar in a one-sided match, ending 6-1, 6-1.
Tournament Overview
The championship, which began on Wednesday, saw the participation of 39 players (28 men and 11 women). Eligibility was open to:
- Players ranked in the first and second categories.
- Quarterfinalists from the third category.
- Champions and runners-up of the 2024 juniors and cadets categories.
- Additional participants granted wildcard entries by the National Technical Directorate of the Algerian Tennis Federation.
The competition was officiated by international referee Walid Bouaouiche, with Tahar Azzi serving as the tournament director.
