Ramallah (Occupied Palestine) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has accused the Israeli occupation of exploiting the international community’s failure, particularly that of the UN Security Council, to fulfill its legal responsibilities. Israel continues to intensify its assaults on the Palestinian people in Gaza, racing against time to turn the area into an uninhabitable wasteland through escalating massacres, displacing residents, destroying hospitals, and systematically demolishing homes, especially in the northern parts of the Strip.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the ministry condemned the lack of international action against the “scenes of genocide and displacement of our people,” describing this inaction as bordering on “open complicity with the massive violations of international law without accountability.”
The ministry stressed that international legitimacy is losing credibility and its institutions are eroding as long as the genocide continues and the UN Security Council fails to act. It noted the Council’s inability to heed calls from specialized UN agencies, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded the Security Council enforce Resolution 2735, which calls for a ceasefire, humanitarian aid access to Gaza, Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and the empowerment of the State of Palestine to fully assume its responsibilities in Gaza as well as the West Bank. The ministry also called for the cessation of Israeli aggression in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
