
The Algerian cycling team (men and women) secured five medals (1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze) on the third day of the Arab Track Cycling Championship, currently being held in Cairo, Egypt.
The gold medal was won by the duo Anas Riyahi and Mohamed Hamzaoui in the “Madison” event for the U23 category. The two silver medals were claimed by Anas Riyahi, Abdelhamid Cherhabil, and Salah Hamzioui in the Olympic Sprint (U23) event, and by Khasib Sassan, Mohamed Najeeb Assal, and Zaki Boudar in the Olympic Sprint (Men’s Elite) event.
As for the bronze medals, Malaak Mishaab earned one in the Scratch (U23 Women) event, and the team of Mohamed Najeeb Assal and Osama Mimouni won another in the Madison (Men’s Elite) event.
Following these achievements, the national team temporarily increased its overall medal tally to 22 (4 gold, 7 silver, and 11 bronze) since the start of the competition.
The Arab Track Cycling Championship, which is being held from December 25 to 28 in Cairo, features 8 Arab teams with a total of 150 cyclists, both male and female, from various age categories, competing in 44 events.
It is worth noting that the Algerian team, consisting of 13 cyclists, including three women, arrived in the Egyptian capital last Sunday under the supervision of national coach Abdelbasset Hanachi, with assistance from Faisal Bounab and Fouad Hamza.
