Algerian Cup: Exciting Matches Between Top Clubs, Including Derby and Key Showdowns

Algeria – The 2024-2025 Algerian Cup kicks off its round of 32 on Monday, with a highly anticipated Algiers derby between N. Ben Aknoun and their rivals MC Alger. The competition also features thrilling encounters between top-flight teams, including Olympique Aghbou versus CS Constantine and Chabab Saoura against Ittihad Khenchela in the coming days.

The opening match of the round will take place at the 5 July Stadium in Algiers at 7:00 PM (19:00), with N. Ben Aknoun, the winter champion of the Center-West Division of the second division, hosting MC Alger, the runner-up of last season’s cup and the defending Ligue 1 champion.

Following the derby, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, the match between Olympique Aghbou and CS Constantine will take place at the Union Maghreb Stadium in Bejaia at 3:00 PM (15:00). Both teams are looking to bounce back from recent defeats in the league, with Aghbou struggling after dropping to 9th place, while Constantine will rely on their experience to secure a spot in the next round.

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, Chabab Saoura, fresh off a 2-0 victory against CS Constantine in the league, will face Ittihad Khenchela in another high-stakes match. The game will be held at the 20 August Stadium in Bechar at 3:00 PM (15:00), where the home crowd will be rooting for Saoura’s progress in the competition.

The cup matches will continue through Friday and Saturday, with several clubs from the top division playing away against lower-division teams, eager to cause upsets and pull off surprises.

Friday, January 3, 2025, will feature JS Kabylie, the league leaders, traveling to Guelma to face Terjii Guelma (from the inter-regional league). Other matches include JSM Chlef against Ittihad Karmet in Karma, and USM El Harrach taking on Nassr Hussein Dey in a fierce Algiers derby.

The Saturday, January 4, 2025, fixtures will see more exciting encounters, including N. Mokra hosting Moustakbal Rouissat, and MC Oran playing away to Ittihad Bechar.

The competition will conclude on Monday, January 6, 2025, with Shabab Belouizdad, the defending champions, playing at home against Shabab El Zawiya, followed by a match between Ittihad Biskra and Chabab El Mcheria.

The round of 32 will wrap up on Thursday, January 16, 2025, with Ittihad Algiers, in great form in Ligue 1, facing Olympique Megran at the 5 July Stadium at 7:00 PM (19:00).
