Algerian Football Federation Meets Top Clubs to Outline Strategy for Professional League Development

Algiers – The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) convened a significant meeting on Monday with representatives from the 16 clubs of the “Mobilis” Professional League 1 at its headquarters. The primary focus was to develop a strategic roadmap to align professional football with licensing requirements and improve operational standards, as announced in an official FAF statement.

Key Agenda and Initiatives

The meeting, chaired by FAF Vice President Mohamed El Amine Meslou, included a comprehensive evaluation of the current state of professional football by FAF Secretary-General Nadir Bouznad. Bouznad outlined a new framework designed to enhance club management and professionalism in Algerian football.

The proposed roadmap emphasizes several core components:

  • Organizational Structure: Establishing a hierarchical system that clearly defines roles and responsibilities within professional clubs.
  • Ethics Charter: Enforcing a code of ethics for all stakeholders in professional football.
  • Strict Compliance: Ensuring adherence to the licensing requirements for clubs.
  • Financial Prudence: Implementing stringent budget monitoring under the supervision of the National Directorate for Financial Management Control (DNMC).

Innovations in Player Contracts and Youth Development

Among the highlights of the initiative is the introduction of a new standard professional player contract starting in June 2025. Furthermore, clubs will be required to establish youth academies for pre-formation categories (U9, U11, U13) by January 2025.

The roadmap also mandates clubs to:

  • Develop comprehensive commercial plans to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Implement robust measures to prevent and combat violence in football.
  • Revitalize supporter committees to foster stronger connections between clubs and their fans.

Support and Collaboration

FAF and the Professional League expressed their commitment to assisting elite clubs in implementing these strategies. The federation’s statement noted the positive reception of these measures by club representatives, who pledged to contribute actively to the advancement of Algerian football.
