Algiers – CR Belouizdad, the reigning champion, advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2024-2025 Algerian Cup after defeating Chabab Zawiya (an Inter-regional division team) with a narrow 1-0 victory. The match, played on Tuesday evening at the 5th of July Stadium in Algiers, was part of the Round of 32 fixtures.
The only goal of the game came in the 43rd minute, scored by Chahbi for CR Belouizdad.
In the Round of 16, scheduled for February 20, CR Belouizdad will face its arch-rival, MC Algiers, who qualified with a commanding 3-0 win over Najm Ben Aknoun.
Following the completion of 30 Round of 32 matches, 30 teams have secured their spots in the next stage. These include:
- 11 teams from the Ligue 1 (Professional League)
- 8 teams from the Ligue 2 (Amateur Division)
- 10 teams from the Inter-regional Division
- 1 team from the Regional 1 Division
The remaining two spots will be decided in the final Round of 32 matches.
The next game in this round will take place on Thursday, January 16, when USM Algiers, currently in excellent form in Ligue 1, hosts Olympique El Megrane, who are struggling near the bottom of the Central-East Group in Ligue 2. The match is set for 7:00 PM at the 5th of July Stadium, rescheduled due to USM Algiers’ participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Round of 32 will conclude on January 25 with a match between Olympique Akbou and CS Constantine.
