Algiers – Osama Hamdan, Deputy Head of the Arab and Islamic Relations Office of the Hamas Movement, emphasized on Friday in Algiers that Algeria’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause in international forums significantly contributes to the resilience and steadfastness of the Palestinian people against Israeli occupation.
In his address at a public rally organized by the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) in the Algerian capital, Hamdan praised Algeria’s pivotal role in supporting Palestine on all fronts, particularly within the United Nations Security Council. He noted that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has repeatedly reaffirmed Algeria’s principled stance.
Hamdan highlighted Algeria’s historical struggle for independence, stating that its solidarity with the Palestinian people is a testament to its commitment to justice and liberation. He stressed that “the path of resistance is the only way to liberate the land and establish the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
He further pointed out that Algeria’s support dismantles the Israeli narrative that Palestinians are isolated in their struggle.
During his speech, which was attended by political party representatives and members of Hamas’ office in Algeria, Hamdan shed light on the harsh living conditions in Gaza, which has been subjected to Israeli aggression for 15 consecutive months. He also described the hardships caused by the ongoing blockade, especially as winter exacerbates the crisis.
Despite facing hunger, a lack of humanitarian aid, and continuous attacks, Hamdan commended Palestinian youth for joining the resistance. He stated, “Our youth send a clear message to the Israeli occupier: your bombings and aggression will not frighten us or break our spirit.”
Regarding negotiations, Hamdan underscored Hamas’ firm stance, asserting that “any agreement must ensure a complete halt to Israeli aggression, a full withdrawal from Gaza, and unrestricted relief and reconstruction efforts free from Israeli interference.”
In his remarks, Abdelali Hassani Cherif, President of the Movement of Society for Peace, reiterated that the event reaffirms Algeria’s enduring commitment to the Palestinian cause. He stated, “The Palestinian cause will always live in the hearts of Algerians, and Algeria will spare no effort in supporting this just struggle.”
He also emphasized that the Algerian people, in all their diversity, believe that the Palestinian cause represents the cause of an entire nation, not just the Palestinian people alone.
The rally concluded with Osama Hamdan receiving an honorary award from Abdelali Hassani Cherif in recognition of his dedication to the Palestinian cause.
