Minister of Justice Oversees Meeting of the Supreme Council of Documentation

Algiers – The Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Mr. Boujemaa Laïfi, chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of Documentation on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the ministry’s headquarters. The meeting focused on key issues related to the documentation sector, including digitization, archival management, and professional ethics, according to a statement from the ministry.

Key Agenda Items
During the meeting, participants reviewed the activities of the National Chamber of Notaries and its interactions with institutions and stakeholders. A significant emphasis was placed on the digitization of public notary offices and professional structures, aligning with the government’s broader strategy to digitize all sectors.

The discussion also addressed the management of documentary archives and ways to improve their preservation methods. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing measures to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism within notary offices and related professional structures.

Preparation of a Professional Code of Ethics
Another critical topic on the agenda was the preparation of a professional code of ethics. This code aims to regulate and frame all professional activities within the notary sector, ensuring transparency, integrity, and accountability.
