Algiers – The Finance and Budget Committee of the National People’s Assembly (APN) held a meeting on Wednesday to hear from Mohamed Fouad Nasir, President of the Court of Accounts, who presented an assessment of the 2022 Budget Settlement Bill, according to an official statement from the Assembly.
During the session, chaired by Mohamed Hadi Oussama Araboui, the committee reviewed the financial context in which the 2022 budget was drafted. Nasir highlighted the improved global health situation at the time, alongside financial support measures for businesses and households, as well as monetary policies aimed at boosting economic growth.
Presenting key budget execution indicators for 2022, Nasir emphasized the need to further enhance state budget management to better control the deficit. He called for continued efforts to optimize tax revenues, classify tax debts based on recoverability, and adopt a results-based management approach.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of proper investment planning, recommending that only mature projects receive funding to prevent delays and repeated re-evaluations.
For his part, Araboui underscored the significance of effective coordination between the Court of Accounts, the legislative body, and the executive authority, describing it as a cornerstone for financial oversight that contributes to improving the state’s economic performance.
He further reaffirmed the Court of Accounts’ vital role as a key institution in monitoring public policies, correcting financial imbalances, and reinforcing fiscal discipline within public institutions and administrations.
