Algiers – During a visit to the private cinema complex “TMV” at TMC Cinema in Garden City, Algiers, Minister of Culture and Arts Zohir Bellou called on private investors to actively contribute to the development of Algeria’s film industry by investing in cinema complexes and making use of public screening halls. Emphasizing the government’s support for private initiatives in film production, exhibition, and scriptwriting, the minister highlighted the TMV project—launched in 2023—as a successful, profitable, and socially valuable investment. Bellou reiterated that the state has established a regulatory framework aimed at reviving the cinema sector, targeting the creation of 150 cinema complexes by 2030 to address the current deficit and support local film production. He also encouraged the establishment of cinema clubs and the utilization of public cinema venues. A presentation from the National Office of Copyright emphasized the importance of a structured film market and a strong network of halls to ensure sustainable cinematic development.
