The organizing committee of the Seventh National Cultural Festival for Algerian Traditional Dress announced the opening of registrations for the “Caftan Challenge 2025” competition, aimed at showcasing the beauty of the Algerian caftan. According to a statement released on Tuesday, the competition is part of the program for the upcoming festival, which will be held from August 30 to September 2 at the Riadh El-Feth Palace (Fort 23) in Algiers. The competition offers an opportunity for young designers with a modern artistic vision to showcase their interpretations of the Algerian caftan. The goal is to highlight the art of caftan design, emphasize this traditional garment, and inspire contemporary creations. Designers will present their works to a qualified jury, which will select six participants from the preliminary online round to compete in the final during the festival. The festival, organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, will carry the theme “The Algerian Caftan, A Heritage Tailored to Identity.” Those interested in participating can register via the festival’s Facebook page.
