Rachid Hachichi, Chief Executive Officer of Sonatrach, received on Tuesday the Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Mohamed Hamel, for discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the two sides.
According to a statement from Sonatrach, the talks centered on “ways to enhance cooperation and broaden prospects for partnership, in line with the current challenges facing the energy sector at both regional and international levels.”
The two officials also explored the future outlook for natural gas within the global energy mix, underscoring its strategic role in achieving sustainable development and supporting the energy transition as a key pathway toward a cleaner and more efficient energy future.
Sonatrach emphasized that this meeting reflects “its commitment to consolidating Algeria’s position as a reliable partner and pivotal player in the global gas industry, through active engagement in regional and international initiatives.
