Japanese Firms Eye Algeria at Africa Lounge in Yokohama

The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency’s pavilion drew significant attention from Japanese companies participating in the Africa Lounge exhibition, held from August 20 to 22 in Yokohama, Japan.

According to a statement from the Agency, the exhibition was organized on the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 2025). The event was attended by Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprise Minister Nourdine Ouadah, who represented President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. It brought together 195 exhibitors, including African organizations and Japanese corporations.

Algeria: A Gateway to Africa

The Algerian pavilion attracted particular interest from Japanese firms seeking access to African markets through Algeria, which is increasingly recognized as an emerging hub of global economic growth. Algeria’s expanding market offers promising opportunities for Japan across multiple sectors.

The statement highlighted that Japanese companies showing strong interest operate in fields such as food industries, automotive manufacturing, electronics, satellite data analysis, railway signaling systems, and animal feed production.

Showcasing Algeria’s Investment Climate

The pavilion was led by Ms. Iman Toumi, Director at the Investment Promotion Agency, and Mr. Ibrahim Salamani, Head of the Decentralized One-Stop Office in Skikda. They presented Algeria’s investment climate, underscoring the advantages of the country’s Investment and Economic Land Acts, with the aim of attracting Japanese investments and strengthening economic partnerships between Algeria and Japan.
