Algiers Forum Underscores Rising International Recognition of Sahrawi Struggle

The seventh Diplomatic Solidarity Forum with the Sahrawi people, held Monday at the South African Embassy in Algiers, was described by Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria Khatri Addouh as a decisive step in advancing the Western Sahara cause.

In an interview with Algeria’s Radio Channel 1, Addouh noted that the meeting spotlighted recent breakthroughs achieved by the Sahrawi cause at both the African and global levels. He stressed that these gains confirm the Sahrawi state is no longer a distant aspiration but “an undeniable reality acknowledged on the international stage.”

The forum also pressed the United Nations to fully uphold its obligations in completing the decolonization of Western Sahara. Participants further called for an urgent, independent investigation into human rights violations in the occupied territories, warning that silence only emboldens continued abuses.
