Algiers – On Monday, August 25, 2025, an awareness day was organized for associations in Algeria’s nine border provinces to address the risks associated with terrorism financing and financial crimes, in line with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), according to a statement issued on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, by the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning.
The statement explained that “as part of implementing FATF recommendations and continuing the national awareness plan targeting local associations, particularly those active in religious and charitable fields, an awareness day was held on August 25, 2025, for associations in the nine border provinces via video conferencing.”
Supervised by officials and experts from the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning, along with representatives from the National Gendarmerie Command, the General Directorate of National Security, and the National Observatory for Civil Society, the event aimed to “raise awareness among associations about the risks of their exploitation in terrorism financing and financial crimes, and to enhance their capacities in governance and compliance with relevant laws,” according to the same source.
