Algiers – The Algerian men’s volleyball team is continuing its preparations for the 2025 World Championship, scheduled to take place in the Philippines from September 12 to 28, 2025, through a training camp in Poland that will run until September 5, according to the Algerian Volleyball Federation.
During this camp, the national team will play six friendly matches, the federation added. Prior to this, the team, led by coach Kamel Imloul, held a training camp in Tunisia in early August, which included three friendly matches against the Tunisian national team.
The Algerian team also participated in the International Friendship Tournament in July in Béjaïa, alongside teams from Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt. For the 2025 World Championship, Algeria was drawn in Group F alongside Italy, Ukraine, and Belgium.
The Algerian team will kick off its campaign against defending champions Italy on September 14 in Manila (2:30 PM Algerian time), followed by a match against Ukraine two days later on September 16 (7:00 AM), and then Belgium on September 18 (7:00 AM) in the final round of the group stage.
Notably, this edition marks the first time the championship will feature 32 teams, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage. The 2025 World Championship matches will be held at two venues in the Philippine capital, Manila: the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
For context, the Algerian national team qualified for the 2025 World Championship after reaching the final of the 2023 African Championship, where they lost to Egypt (1-3).
