Ligue 1 Mobilis: Capital Derby Between USM Alger and MC Alger Ends in Goalless Draw

Algiers – The highly anticipated capital derby between USM Alger and MC Alger concluded without a winner (0-0) in a match that fell short of expectations, held on Sunday evening, August 31, 2025, at Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida, marking the close of the second round of the Ligue 1 Mobilis professional championship. Meanwhile, JS Kabylie settled for a 1-1 draw against their hosts, ES Ben Aknoun, according to a report by aps.dz.

In a match characterized by an average technical level, neither USM Alger nor MC Alger managed to impose their dominance throughout the game, despite a few chances created by both teams’ attackers and defenders. The goalkeepers of both sides had minimal interventions during the two halves, except for a few moments where they shone, successfully keeping clean sheets.

On the other hand, JS Kabylie, considered one of the top contenders for titles this season, earned only a point from their trip to Algiers, despite fielding several new players (Mahious, Belaid, etc.), against the newly promoted ES Ben Aknoun (1-1). JS Kabylie opened the scoring through former international player Riyad Boudabouz in the 37th minute, but the hosts equalized in stoppage time (45+4) through Saad, with the score remaining unchanged until the end, allowing Ben Aknoun to secure their first point in the championship. Notably, Mahious missed a penalty in the 29th minute, which was saved twice by goalkeeper Bousouf.

The second round of the Ligue 1 Mobilis began on Friday, August 29, 2025, with Olympique Akbou and newly promoted ASO Rouisset taking the lead in the standings (6 points each) after their respective home victories against MC Oran (1-0) and MC El Bayadh (1-0). This marked Olympique Akbou’s second consecutive win, following their opening-round victory at home against ES Mostaganem (1-0).

At the 18 February Stadium in Ouargla, ASO Rouisset confirmed their strong start in their first season in the elite division. After a valuable 2-1 away win against JS Saoura in the opening round, they secured a second victory, this time 1-0 against MC El Bayadh, who suffered their second consecutive defeat, marking a disappointing start for their supporters.

Meanwhile, ES Sétif missed a valuable opportunity to secure their first win, settling for a 1-1 draw at home against JS Saoura in a match played without spectators.

The round continued on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with USM Khenchela earning an important away victory against ASO Chlef (2-1), sealed by a goal in stoppage time, while CR Belouizdad, last season’s third-placed team, defeated neighbors Paradou AC (1-0).

In contrast, CS Constantine missed the chance to join the leaders, suffering a 2-0 defeat away to ES Mostaganem, who celebrated their first win in their second season in the top tier.
