Third Consecutive Win Propels U21 Team to Morocco Clash

The Algerian U21 national football team recorded their third consecutive victory in Group B of the Taranto Mediterranean Games 2026 in Italy, overcoming Albania with a 2-0 scoreline. This success marks a perfect group stage performance for the squad under coach Brahim Hemdani, securing their place in the tournament's semi-finals.

The match against Albania saw Lahlou Akhrib open the scoring in the 58th minute, heading a cross from Houssem Tarzout. Later, Houssem Abdelaziz doubled Algeria's lead in the 73rd minute, capitalizing on a poorly cleared ball following a run and shot by Tarzout. Goalkeeper Yasser Zitouni featured in the match, while Mohammed El-Koubi was rested.

With their flawless run through the group stage, where they accumulated nine points from three wins, the Algerian U21 team is set to face Morocco in the semi-finals. The anticipated match is scheduled for Friday, August 28, at 8:00 PM Algerian time, and will be held at the Erasmo Iacovone stadium in Taranto.
