Algeria’s Samir Hammoudi Elected Member of the Mediterranean Fencing Union

Algeria has strengthened its presence in international sport governance, as Samir Hammoudi, federal member of the Algerian Fencing Federation, was elected on Saturday as a member of the Mediterranean Fencing Union. The election took place during the Union’s general assembly dedicated to appointing its new president and executive committee.

In addition to Hammoudi’s election, the assembly also recognized Algerian leadership in the sport by designating Feryal Salhi, president of the Algerian Fencing Federation, as an honorary member of the Mediterranean body.

This dual recognition underscores Algeria’s growing influence in Mediterranean and international sporting organizations, a reflection of the nation’s commitment to promoting Olympic disciplines and strengthening its voice in regional and global arenas. It also reinforces Algeria’s ability to counter attempts by rival regimes, especially Morocco, to marginalize Algerian sport, affirming once more the country’s determination to carry its values of excellence and fair competition beyond its borders.
